One-77 — 2008
The One-77 represented Aston Martin’s first true hypercar exercise, conceived to prove that the marque could rival the Ferrari Enzo and Bugatti Veyron of its day. Its naturally aspirated 7.3-litre V12, developed with the help of Cosworth, produced 750 bhp — without any turbo or supercharger assistance — and propelled this car of carbon and titanium to 354 km/h, an absolute record for a road car from the marque at the time. Its carbon-fibre monocoque body and its brushed aluminium on the structural elements make it as much a work of art as a performance machine.
Sold at more than £1.2 million each in 2009 — the highest price for a road car ever reached by Aston Martin — the One-77 was offered exclusively to 77 hand-picked customers. On Aston Passion, it is the object of particular veneration in the Hyper-Cars section, where members regard it as one of the marque’s finest achievements, both aesthetically and technically. Its absolute rarity and iconic status place it today well above its original value on the used market.
