About

DBX — 2019

The DBX represents one of the riskiest gambles in Aston Martin’s history: to design an SUV without betraying the soul of a marque synonymous with sports coupés for over a century. The result is an undeniable stylistic success — the DBX is probably the most beautiful SUV on the market — and a convincing dynamic proposition thanks to the 4.0-litre twin-turbo AMG V8 producing 542 bhp and a suspension calibration that preserves driving pleasure. Its construction in a dedicated factory in Wales reflects the marque’s industrial ambition.

Launched at a crucial time for Aston Martin’s financial health, the DBX quickly came to account for the majority of the marque’s sales, vindicating the diversification strategy. The DBX707 version, introduced in 2022 with 707 PS, makes it the most powerful SUV in its class and reinforces the model’s sporting credibility. On Aston Passion, discussions around the DBX are fewer than for the traditional coupés, but owner-members appreciate its practicality with no compromise on Aston Martin character.

The DBX707: the most powerful SUV in the world (2022)

In 2022, Aston Martin decided to push its SUV to its very limits. The DBX707 — the figure denotes its power in metric horsepower — receives an uprated version of the 4.0-litre AMG twin-turbo V8 producing 707 PS, 158 PS more than the standard DBX. The gearbox switches to a 9-speed wet-clutch unit, carbon-ceramic brake callipers are standard, and the body stands out with enlarged air intakes and a more aggressive diffuser. Claiming the title of the world’s most powerful SUV at its launch, the DBX707 is proof that Aston Martin refuses to treat SUVs as a concession — but as a field of expression in their own right.
